A Normal Family
We grew up in a normal New Orleans family...
We shared the same loving mom and dad...
Six kids in ten years seems pretty exciting...
Sibling rivalry was something we all had...
My big brother thought he was our leader...
My big sister thought she was the queen...
All I wanted to do was hang out with them...
But sometimes they could be pretty mean...
And then there were the three little ones...
They were always getting in my way...
Sometimes I just wanted to be by myself...
I tried hard to often push them away...
It can be a challenge to live in a large family...
Not everyone shares the same views...
But if we wanted to have a voice at the table...
We learned early on how to pay our dues...
As individuals, we grew at our own pace...
Often picking different roads to go down...
Whoever knew that one day we would find...
A new life in a completely different town...
I do indeed love each of my siblings...
I’m not sure that they all feel the same...
Sometimes we can indeed be very different...
Even though we all share the same last name...
